Winner Winner....Chicken Dinner

It took all 7 games but the New Orleans Old Fashioneds bested the Atlanta Expos in the most thrilling season we've had of late. With the NOOFs up 4-1 in the top of the 9th, their star closer, who was making his first appearance of the World Series and only 4th of the entire playoffs; came to the mound. With 1 out and runners on first and second, pitcher hitter Wil Johnston came to the plate and ripped a linear to LCF for a double, scoring one. Latos, one of the fastest guys in the league, was subbed as a pitcher runner for him. Near AL MVP at the plate, the score now 4-2 with runners on 2nd and 3rd he flies out to deep LCF, scoring one but Latos was held at third much to the frustration of Expos fans everywhere...and by everywhere we mean downtown Atlanta because we all know the subburbs of Atlanta were cheering for the NOOFs. Now 4-3 with Latos on 3rd, Vince Saarloos, who was hitting .370 in the playoffs and had a suburb season was at the plate. Andrews was luckily able to get him to ground out to Halter at 1B closing out the game, and winning one for Bourbon Street. This title is owner, minihouston's first and the franchise's third.

Playoff Record: 11-5
Playoff Stats: .281 avg, .811 ops, 24 HR, 4.12 era (pitching was the reverse of how they produced in the regular season)
Outstanding Position Player: Juancito Martin - .449 avg, 1.123 ops, 16 R, 0 HR, 16 RBI, 0 SB
Outstanding Pitcher: Yao-Hsun Higashioka - 2.79 era, .284 oav, 1.24 whip, 14 k, 3 bb, 2-0 record, but what was a key for a pitching staff that fell a part in the playoffs was his 12 appearances and 19 innings over their 16 games.

Congrats again and let's get ready for the start of Season 55!

Trivia

Did you know the largest division win is by a whooping 57 games? Set by the Texas Giddy Ups, who were later relocated by their then and current owner rawdk27 to the best City in Texas, Houston. In S30, both Iowa City and Charleston tied for second (70-92 records), with the Charlotte Knights bringing up the rear a full 75 games back (52-110)! What's even more interesting to note and how dominate that team was, it was the 5th straight year they had won the division by 30 games or more and they would go on to win the next two seasons by no less than 30 as well. Talk about a rough decade for AL South teams. The NL record is 52 in S6 by Rochester Rolling Rocks (129-39 record, Chicago Gunslingers). Fourth in the division finished 73 games back (50-112).
