New owner interview hosted by Commissioner Daubs.
Q: Tell us about keltic44. What is he like? What does he do in his spare time when not obsessing over your rosters?
A: I’m a 42-year-old father of 2 (7 going in 17-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son my goal is to keep from jumping off the deck head first). I’m a financial consultant who is obsessed with Boston sports teams and running spartan races. I travel the country usually doing at least 1 race a month.
Q: Obviously, you are a veteran owner in HBD. What do you enjoy the most about the game? You've won nearly 2/3 of your games against the Commissioner in another world, so is that why you joined Cobbfather? Because you figured you'd crush at least one owner here?
A: I’ve always been fascinated with ownership / management of a team well before I joined HBD in 2012. I enjoy being able to build a franchise, find a stud player and develop them. I wish there was a day pause between free agency and rule 5 draft I always get tripped up. Haha you (commissioner) are fun to compete with and I saw, knew or have been in worlds with a lot of owners in this world. So I jumped at the opportunity and hope to be here for a long time.
(EDITOR'S NOTE: We are currently investigating whether the Commissioner paid Keltic for this answer about the commissioner being fun.)
Q: What is your favorite part about building a franchise? Do you try to make a lot of trades? Would you rather build through the draft or IFA? Or just buy a team like Steinbrenner used to do?
A: I’ve done all 3, it depends on the league and the team I have in front of me. I like to trade usually make 2-5 trades a year. With the team I have in front of me here we need to rebalance this team a lot of good players all playing the same position. So I will be retooling through trade then building a competitor through draft / IFA.
Q: Having taken over the team partway through last season, what do you like most about your current roster? Who do you like most? Promise they will never read these articles! What about prospects? Who are you looking forward to the ML team in the next couple of seasons?
A: Honestly, I’m not big on anyone it’s disappointing the previous owner had less then 70 wins in 11 out of 12 seasons and was not able to draft or sign and keep a stud. Don’t get me wrong there are good players but no game changers. I’ve made some trades to start this season that will help retool this line up.
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming season? Are you looking to push for the playoffs? Or do you expect to rebuild for a couple of seasons?
A: It depends on the response I get off trade proposals. But this might be a slower rebuild than I’ve had in other leagues. Most likely this season and next is in rebuild, but so far I like this league and plan to stick around for a while and make this team my own.
Q: What is your favorite aspect(s) of Cobbfather?
A: Seems to be good friendly banter in the chat..
Q: What advice would you give a new owner in HBD? Besides making sure to ignore most conversations with the Commissioner of Cobbfather?
A: Don’t trade anyone in your first preseason take a season to understand the ratings and get to know who you are trading with.
Q: Any final thoughts as we get going into the Season?
A: I’m excited to be here, I’m open for trades, looking to be here a long time.
