S59 Record Books

Jack Torrance - Contributing Reporter

Winner Winner....Chicken Dinner

Brutal back to back playoffs for Houston, first losing the ALCS in S58 up 3-1 and now blowing a 3-0 lead in the World Series to the Hartford Rising Stars. The Star has Risen for their franchise first World Series title. Congrats to jverrier on a fantastic season and finally getting over the hump. After scoring just 1 run in the first three games, Hartford went on to outscore Houston 30-18 in a stunning Game 7 that went scoreless the first 7.5 innings until Leonel Martinez hit a solo blast that barely cleared the centerfield wall. Houston centerfielder Yohan Nova nearly had the play but missed the grab by inches. But the game ended on an amazing catch (plus play) Hartford's centerfielder Hank Dougherty.

Trivia

New York Empire continues to set a Cobbfather record with their 4th straight #1 Overall picks. If this team doesn't win a world series or three, someone has some life decisions to think about. The team has only won 189 of 648 games; good for a .292 win percentage the last few seasons.

Despite making the wildcard in the NL with a 93-69 (.574) record, Tokyo as a franchise finished with a league worst 189-625 (.232) record.

New Orleans' 65 wins is largest drop in the history of Cobbfather for a team who made the World Series the year prior. They went from 101 wins to just 65 this year as they completely tore down the roster. I wouldn't look for New Orleans to be back in the World Series in S60 as they were in S54, 56, & 58.

Minor League

AAA
Unlike their A+ matchup, AL #2 Mexico City gets the sweep on NL #3 New Orleans, 4-0.

In their second straight AA World Series but this time seeded AL #5 Boston gets swept by NL #2 Buffalo, 0-4.
Best Record: Boston Baseball Team - 112-32

A+
AL #2 Mexico City only needed 5 games to top NL #2 New Orleans 4-1.
Best Record: Boston Baseball Team - 115-29
Worst Record: Tokyo Nomo - 16-128

A-
NL #2 seed Salem comes back from being down 3-1 against AL #1 seed Mexico City to take the series, 4-3.
