S58 Initial Power Rankings

Richard Castle - contributing reporter

Skynet is prepped and ready for the initial power rankings of this fresh new season 58. By record as of this writing here are the top 5 records:
  • 30-9
    • Atlanta (NL-E)
  • 27-12
    • Hartford Rising Stars (NL-N)
  • 26-13
    • Philadelphia (AL-N), Huntington Tropics (AL-S), New Orleans (NL-S)
  • 25-14
    • Columbus Corbis (NL-E)
  • 24-15
    • Houston (AL-S)
Atlanta has a small cushion ahead of the pack where a game separates most teams. Only 1/4 of the way into the season so anything can happen and with Mardi Gras right around the corner, plenty of streaking opportunities for New Orleans coming up.

Salt Lake City just put a bunch of names on the block, perhaps someone looking for hitting - like a Tacoma who has 70 grade pitching would be a great trade partner. Bring that 35 up to 60 and next thing you know they  are competing for the National League title.

If we look at how each team has expected to win based off recent play, here is what we'd see. Champs and Wildcard are listed based on expected win percentages. Current playoff teams are highlighted in bold.
Once again, seems the AL might be favored in the All-Star game and the World Series this year, having the top 3 teams but also 4 of the bottom 5 teams. Based on expectations, SLC would be in over Dover but the NL mixes it up a bit more with Salem taking the division title and kicking OKC out of the playoffs as Buffalo would get their wildcard slot. If Chicago ever trades Crowe; get ready to see them drop in the rankings. But as it stands with his shift to 1B he has a chance to be NL MVP, SS 1B, & GG 1B as he currently leads the league in Home Runs and Plus Plays.
