DOWN ON THE FARM REPORT

"Down on the farm " will be a report of about 10 players from each franchise. It will be players from Low A-AAA. Players who are in the same level for a long period of time, or players over 30 will not be included. It will also be hard to compile players from franchises who have a depleted minor league system. I will do the best I can in these situations. If there are any dis-agreements, please let em know and I will correct them. I will start with the AL and work my way to the NL. I believe this will take a couple days to complete. Again it is just a "heads up" on who is doing what down in the minors.

Season 5 Power Rankings - Regular Season #3

Chuckles McGee - Cobbfather Post Gazette

It's time for another edition of the Power Rankings! No change at the top of the rankings this week, as Jackson stays at #1 after going 10-6 this period. Sacramento and Rochester stay at #2 and #3 respectively, with solid 9-7 performances in this period. Atlanta jumps up 2 spots to #4 with a 10-6 record in the rankings period, and Tampa Bay rounds out the top 5 at #5 with a great 12-4 run.

But the hottest team in the league comes from outside the top 5, it's everybody's favorite, the Hammer'd Leprechauns! #9 San Francisco went 13-3 during this past period and are currently on an 11 game winning streak. They took over the AL West lead as well, passing a slumping #10 Vancouver. Other hot teams include #7 Dover, who went 11-4, and #13 Memphis, rebounding from an awful start with a 12-4 effort. #17 Boston went 12-3, and are currently on an 8 game winning streak.

All in all, there were 11 teams that won 10 or more games since the last rankings, which gets us to our teams on the rise and teams on the decline section.

Teams on the rise: San Francisco, Tampa Bay, Memphis, Boston, Dover, Atlanta, New York (NL), New York (AL), Burlington, Charleston

Teams on the decline: Vancouver, Florida, Detroit, St. Louis, Cheyenne, Buffalo, Durham, Oakland, Ottawa

Season 5 Power Rankings - Regular Season #2

Chuckles McGee - Cobbfather Post Gazette

It's 30 games into Season 5, and one team has established themselves as the clear #1 team in the league. Jumping up one spot to #1 is the Jackson Rockets, who after starting 1-3, rattled off 23 wins in 24 games before having an 18 game winning streak snapped against NL West rival Sacramento, who drops from the top spot to #2. 3-5 remain the same, with Rochester, Vancouver and Florida holding those spots.

Other teams performing well this rankings period were #7 Austin, who went 10-5 and claimed the NL South Division lead. NL East rivals New York and Dover bounced back from slow starts to go 10-5 as well.

And oddly enough, after plummeting to the bottom of the rankings, the Cleveland Kings had a nice little 10-5 run this period as well. graendogg will be pleasantly surprised when he logs in to his team 6 days from now that his team has been doing fairly well; however, we don't expect it to last long.

Here's the teams that made the teams on the rise and teams on the decline list for the 2nd rankings.

Teams on the rise: Jackson, Atlanta, Austin, New York (NL), Dover, Detroit, San Juan, Buffalo, Los Angeles, Durham, Charleston, Cleveland

Teams on the decline: New York (AL), St. Louis, Burlington, Memphis, Syracuse, Oakland, Honolulu, Syracuse, Little Rock, Wichita

Season 5 Power Rankings - Regular Season #1

Chuckles McGee - Cobbfather Post Gazette

Season 5 is underway, and early on Sacramento and Jackson are upholding their #1 and #2 preseason rankings, going 11-3 and 11-4 respectively thus far. But the two best starts to the season go to #3 Rochester (12-3) and #4 Vancouver (13-2). Congrats on those tremendous starts to the season. Florida rounds out the top 5. #9 St. Louis is the only other team with more than 10 wins so far, with their pitching firing on all cylinders. Also, Cheyenne was fired up by their lowly #31 preseason ranking and come out of the gates blazing at 9-6. They jump 11 spots in the rankings up to #20.

The most notable teams off to slower starts than expected are NL East rivals New York and Dover.

Here's who made the first teams on the rise and teams on the decline list of Season 5.

Teams on the rise: Rochester, Vancouver, St. Louis, Detroit, San Juan, Hartford, Cheyenne
