After a drop off in the last quarter of the season where they dropped to #7 in the final power rankings, Atlanta bounced back and showed the #1 ranking they held for most of the season was more accurate, as they claimed their third World Series title in four seasons. Atlanta battled Cheyenne in a hard fought Divisional Series that went the full five games, before yet another ALCS battle with Texas, which they won in 5 games. It took 6 games for them to put away a scrappy Florida team in the World Series to claim the crown. It was Atlanta's tremendous pitching that got them to the title, posting a 2.94 postseason ERA, when their offense wasn't quite clicking. Although they did belt 20 home runs in 16 games, they only managed a .235 batting average and a .675 OPS. It was still good enough to earn ekoontz his 4th Cobbfather championship.
It was a great season for Florida as well, as they swept Santa Fe in the divisional series before outlasting Las Vegas in an incredible 7 game NLCS. They came up just short of claiming their first Cobbfather title and pushed Atlanta to the brink. Congrats to dodgersrays for making the World Series for the third time in four seasons.
Thanks to all for playing this season, there's some great teams headed into next season and it will be exciting to see how it plays out after a hopefully quick rollover.
See you back for Season 30!
